UPSC topper Jagrati Awasthi that bagged her 2nd rank

UPSC topper Jagrati Awasthi speaks on  that bagged her 2nd rank

clearing UPSC exam is a dream for every aspiring candidate and if one makes it to the top 3 rank holders' category then it's a feather in the hat. For UPSC woman topper Jagrati Awasthi, it was a dream to clear the UPSC exam like any other candidate.

Jagrati Awasthi is among the 761 candidates—including 545 men and 216 women—who have cleared the civil services examination 2020. Jagriti has secured an overall second position amongst UPSC qualifiers.

Jagrati completed her BTech from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) in Bhopal and joined Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL).

Childhood dream of UPSC topper Jagrati Awasthi

When asked about her childhood dream, Jagrati always wanted to become a district collector and work in social areas.

“I wanted to be an engineer initially and started my career as an electrical engineer, but then I realised I wanted to do something more meaningful and contribute in my own little way in society. I realised civil services was best suited for this, and therefore I took the plunge,” Jagrati said while talking to India Today.

After the spread of Covid-19, coaching centres were all closed, but still, Jagrati managed to maintain her motivation level strong at home as it was way too crucial for her to study without taking coaching classes.

“Covid 19 and lockdown created an obstacle for me but didn’t stop me. I came back and joined online classes”, Awasthi said.

“Initially, I studied for 8 to 10 hours. Eventually, I increased it to 10 to 12 hours, and about two months before the exam, I further pushed it to 12 to 14 hours,” she added.

Jagrati Awasthi, 24, secured second rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020, the result of which was announced on Friday.
